Lab Services

In addition to our toll processing and recycling capabilities, at Hoehn Plastics we offer premium on-site lab services for the analysis and characterization of plastics and polymer materials. Our state-of-the-art testing equipment and advanced material knowledge allow us to confirm plastic specifications as well as verify material properties. Our range of testing capabilities supports product formulation and development, problem solving, regulatory compliance, and the process optimization efforts of our customers.

A number of methods are utilized to test various mechanical, physical, and chemical properties of plastic.

Impact strength or material toughness is assessed with Izod impact resistance and Gardner impact tests; ash testing is carried out to check for fillers; and a materials' ease of flow is scrutinized with melt flow testing procedures.

Specific gravity, flexural, and tensile tests are also performed. Our specialized equipment includes a Universal Testing Machine, and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) machine and a FT-IR that is used for thermoanalytical techniques. We are also able to extrude and mold samples for testing.

All work is carried out at our ISO 9001:2015 certified facility, in conformance with rigorous industry standards. Typical turnaround time for lab service requests are 48 hours.
